The BIZIPOZ hotel is a unique, bold, and forward-looking place.
It is a space open to everyone, taking into account the changing habits of our time and our clientele, with an approach deeply rooted in its Basque-Luzien environment.
Whether you are alone, as a pair, or a group of four, a couple, with children, or on a sports trip, if you are looking for the comfort of a well-deserved rest, we offer you a new hospitality experience based on functionality and well-being.
Meaning and coherence are found in the smallest details. In the creation of the logo, the design of the bathroom shelves, the creation of the paintings and their themes, right down to how they are hung on the wall and illuminated.
We dare, just like those who inspired the architectural choices of Luc Vaichere and his team when designing the BIZIPOZ Hotel. Among them are Mallet-Stevens and Pavlovski, timeless architects who combined rigor and inventiveness around the minimalist geometric forms characteristic of 1920s decorative art.
To dare also means creating surprising details that grab attention. This creative freedom invites you to ask questions and engage in conversation.
Our starting point: a two-tone scheme, symbolic of the founding duality of the Basque Country, which is reflected in its architecture and topography. The facades of the houses are white and red (or green), and the sea faces the mountains. Thus, the hotel floors are split into two atmospheres. One floor is green, the other is chocolate.
The BIZIPOZ logo is more than just a visual identity: it embodies the spirit of the place and its architecture.
The letter B, usually round, dares to transform into a square—a shape found throughout the hotel. It is a way of shaking up the rules.
The tilt of the logo echoes the oblique lines present everywhere in the hotel, from the furniture and bathroom shelves to the reception desk. The diagonal, visible even in the "0," reflects the duality omnipresent in the project: day/night, sea/mountain, white/green.
Finally, the very structure of the logo recalls the shape of the BIZIPOZ building and its place in the urban landscape.
From the very first glance, your impression is the right one. You are entering a unique space where the interplay of proportions, perspectives, chandeliers, and symbolic frescoes captivate you. Sofas with generous curves welcome you. Beneath your feet, the floor becomes a red carpet—but in chocolate brown. It invites you to move forward. Inscribed on this pixelated-look carpet is "BIZIPOZ," which translates to "joy of living" in the Basque language. You are no longer just a guest, but the main character of your stay.
Your path is mapped out as soon as you enter. Intersecting, colorful lines guide you through the various spaces. Green and chocolate in the lobby and to reach the elevator. Ochre yellow for the bar and reception. Pink for the dining and wellness area. Finally, these lines are surrounded by a cream tone, evoking a stroll along the beach in Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
Far from clichés, every volume respects local customs and traditions. The dining room reveals curves cut into the metallic ceiling sails, floor-to-ceiling seat backs, benches detached from their bases, and white chandeliers with a touch of color. It all recalls a lunch in the shade of a fronton on a village festival day. The sharpest eyes will notice the paint gradient from white to ochre, designed to accentuate the sense of brightness.
The two-tone theme continues into the hallway, with a diagonal face-off, as if the paint and materials had been rotated or shifted by a quarter turn. The black ceiling and wall contrast with a cream-colored wall and carpet that rises to form a baseboard. A nod to the traces left by the receding tide.
This choice of diagonal is inspired by the region's natural elements—the geology of the striated, sloping dark cliffs that line the coast. This slanted cut is echoed in the placement of the room's mirror, the design of the desk corner, the bathroom shelves, and the shape of the reception desk in the lobby.
On the floor, in an unexpected inversion of materials, the threshold of the door is made of hard flooring and takes on the design of a doormat. This gives a familiar feeling of entering your own home. And facing you is a door with a unique look. The covering will certainly pique your curiosity. Made from grasses and plants harvested in the Pyrenees mountains, the most curious (or lucky) among you might even spot a flower.
The room embodies the BIZIPOZ philosophy.
A new kind of luxury, focused on functionality and well-being. Here, the two-tone color scheme takes on its full meaning. From the moment you enter, you discover a light shade—an off-white that is both bright and soft.
The functional hallway extends the perspective with a coat rack that runs all the way to the window. Simply hanging up a garment, a bag, or a beach towel allows you to make the space your own. You bring your own color to your room.
This section contrasts with and complements the other side, with its enveloping hue. Depending on the floor, it comes in green or chocolate, for those who prefer to sleep in darker tones. The sleeping area and the lounge are connected by three sliding partition panels. A true work of contemporary art, it features regional motifs in the form of stickers. As with any work of art, it is framed.
The room intentionally offers little closed storage. At a glance, you can find your belongings. In an era where we carefully curate our toiletry bags and suitcases, your personal effects become an integral part of the decor. As if to sign this unique space, each room features original paintings on the wall, above the bed or sofa, created by BIZIPOZ artistic director Cyril Houplain.
Finally, the bathroom, faithful to the minimalist and functional spirit of BIZIPOZ, transforms a simple moment into an experience thanks to its colored glass. Taking a shower becomes a unique moment.
